When we first arrived in Puerto Escondido, it was a fairly unknown fishing town. And most of us who had made the trek were mainly surfers doing whatever it took to get to the Mexican pipeline.
Our first morning in Puerto, we stumbled out of our 50 peso a night bus station hotel, down the hill, and onto the view of a lifetime. The waves glass-like, the beach endless, and the sea breeze air warm--our love affair with Puerto had begun. Over the years, we've watched it grow into the thriving beach town it is today, while still retaining that special flare that so many love.
Locals have created businesses to cater to the tourists. introducing shopping and fine restaurants to the town. And now, the local Puerto Econdido airport (PXM) has made it even easier to get here.
We love being a part of this community and we love putting our own efforts into making it even better. That's why we proudly help local girls go to University (a percentage of our business pays their full tuitions), and we won't have it any other way.
Just as we have, we know you'll fall in love with Puerto Escondido. It's become our "home away from home". And we even raised our own daughter here in the winters (getting to study here and to ride horses like a true mexican).
As we make this trip each year, we know only happiness. And we would love to share some of that with you.
Saludos and Gracias,
Maxine and Tim O'Brien
